Since I can't remember any real events, I decided I will make them on my own, Here is ninth of the series. The characters are inspired on you... But well, the events here never happened. Enjoy!
Tales of the Stormwind Regiment
Daniel stretched widely, the beings crawled past his arms as he did so. He glanced at the eight members of the regiment he had taken hostage. He killed the scouts that came earlier, and so would it have to happen to this group. The damn fools are trapped in illusions of their pasts, weaklings they are... He peered at Irene, he had watched her actions, while she was in the regiment she had quite a little operation going on her own. It was dangerous enough for him that he had to keep an eye out for him. The woman was still trying to fight the shadows with all she had. A brave but futile gesture. The other man, the man he had met in person with, had already given up. Marijn just hung there, he had given up on trying to fight against the things that clouded his mind. Daniel smirked slightly. Those spineless fools. He placed his hand on the floor and the same second a hand arose from the blackness of the floor. The hand grabbed Daniel’s arm and he pulled the being out. “Daka, mor vis ka om te re... Vi kiama on serv os lerp dunko ka em.” The being groaned some before letting go and dissapearing trough the floor. “It’s just a matter of time now...” Daniel smirked.
Irene rubbed her head and glanced around the dark space she was in. Was it becouse her eyes stopped working that it was so dark? She peered around and shook her head. She could see her own naked body, but that was all. It was asif she floated somewhere, pherhaps deeply underwater. She kind of enjoyed the feeling, it wasn’t so much as stressfull as her normal job within the regiment, neither was it as intense as running her own buisness. It felt just like she was drifting away. She felt the soft drifting turn more comforable untill she realised she was lying in a warm and comfortable bed. She yawned slightly, forgetting about before untill she coudn’t even remember where she was. She looked across the room she was lying in. It looked familiar, like she had been here before a long time ago. She heard how someone opened the door and saw a man with red hair enter the room. His blue eyes nearly sparkled in the dark room. “Good morning Irene.” She smiled widely, it was her dad. She jumped out of bed but hestitated to walk over to him. She wondered why she felt frightend for the man, it was her dad. She slowly stepped forward and into the arms of her dad. “There there, Irene...” She looked up at the man. He feelings were somewhat troubled. Not really sure why she shrugged it off. “I prepared breakfest, are you coming downstairs?” Irene slowly nodded as her father walked away. It was like she had forgotten something but it didn’t matter, she was starving!
She walked downstairs in her bunny pyjama’s. She yawned slightly and looked around. Her mother and father had already began to eat dinner. She quickly hasted herself towards the table and sat down. She glanced at her bord and licked her lips. She grabbed her knife and fork and slowly started to eat. While her plate was completely empty. She simply ate air and she seemed like she was enjoying it. She stopped eating for a second and went things over. This wasn’t right, not even by a long shot. She glanced at her empty plate and realised that she had been eating nothing. She frowned and peered around the home. This wasn’t right... She groaned slightly as the house around them cracked and faded away into the darkness that was around her before. She stared at the two, her mother and father. She knew it wasn’t possible, her father killed her mother... As if the dream reacted to her she could see it happen infront of her. Her mother stood here before getting stabbed from behind by her father. A twisted demonic grin on it’s face as he placed the sword on her neck. Irene gulped as a tear ran down her cheek. She remembered it all again like it was yesterday.
The man infront of her split the woman’s neck open before dropping the woman on the ground. She coudn’t stand the sight. She quickly turned around and saw the same scene over again. She once again saw her mother getting stabbed before she got her throat split open. She once again turned her head as the scene repeated itself wherever she looked. She closed her eyes and placed her hands against her ears to make the sounds stop. She could still hear the last groans and yelps of her mother in her head. She felt a hand on her lap and slowly opened her eyes. She could see her mother, drained in her own blood reaching out for her. She felt panic coming up, wich was rare for her. She remembered how her teacher used to tell her to calm down, but it was impossible. “Irene, why didn’t you save me?” Irene was shocked. There was no way she could have possibly helped her. She spoke with a nearly broken voice “I coudn’t...” She felt how her mother grabbed her hair and pulled herself closer to her face. “WHY DIDN’T YOU HELP!?” it screamed this time. Irene yelped slightly in panic but then reached for her dagger as it materialized where she grabbed and bashed it trough her mother’s chin. She pushed it of her and saw how it faded away. Leaving just the dagger. She walked over to it and picked up. She glanced towards her father. “You aren’t real.” She softly spoke as she walked over to him. Before the grim could do anything she bashed the dagger into his stomach and saw how it faded away.
She opened her eyes widely and glanced around the room. Beings slowly crawled all over the place and a slight bit of panic came up as she spotted the long rotten arms that kept her on the wall. What was going on, she wondered. She tried to move her arms but there were imediatly pulled back by the arms. She glanced at the others. Marijn just hung there, nearly lifeless. Just like Blaire and Robertio. The rest either seemed to have severe nightmares or just strugled against the things that held them against the wall. She pondered the situation over. How was she going to get out of here, she could hardly move let alone escape. She moved slightly and felt the blades on her back rumble against each other. He hadn’t even bothered to disarm them before leaving. Was he that certain of his case, or did he just didn’t care? If she could just reach them she had a chance of freeing everyone... But how, the arms would pull her back right away. She glanced to her right side where Ilyanain was hanging. She frowned deeply and sighed. She closed her eyes and started to count how many arms were holding on to her. She could feel on her right arms about seven pherhaps eight arms. Her left arm were covered about the same. Her legs a little less arms, five or six for each leg and feet. She could feel only one or two hands on her chest, grabbing for something soft. She ignored it and counted the numbers, she had felt about thirthy hands touching her all over. That ment if she was right, about fiftheen of the beings just kept her in place. She opened her eyes and peered at the others, she guessed about the same number, only the ones who hung, completely still, had less then the others. Maybe ten in total, maybe a little more. Yet if she would count about fiteen beings each, the total would round up to about hundred and twenty beings just to keep them in place. She glanced around the rest of the room where beings crawled over each other or just walked trough the wall. Totalling everything up and it was a small army of those things, maybe enough to take over Redridge Mountains by suprise... Or other small city’s or villages, towns or camps. They could all be in danger from these awfull things. Irene sighed deeply before letting her body go, focusing on not moving the slightest bit, no matter what. Maybe just like Marijn, Blaire and Robertio the beings would eventually leave, or atleast a few of them.
Blaire glanced around with a frown on her face. She had just woken up in the command center. Had she simply fallen asleep on duty... What a moron she was she thaught. She quickly moved down the stairs and saw a plated guard kick someone out the door before turning around. “Ahh hey there Ivers.” The guard said. The regimental badge on his chest displayed the name ‘Ilyanain Cassel’ she smiled faintly and walked over to him. “Shall we go for a patrol sir?” the man nodded slightly. “Alright, this time you can lead the way Ivers.” She smiled widely and started to walk, now she had the chance to be alone with the man she secretly adored, she would certainly walk the longest route possible the extended black route. It was like the black route, except they would also go and check Goldshire. She smirked slightly to herself, setting up secret plans on her own. As they walked with the two of them the man walked abit closer to her, her heartbeat nearly doubled, was her superior the mighty Cassel also into her?
After a while of walking with the two of them, and not running into a single person they stopped for a moment on the road between Stormwind and Goldshire. Ilyanain walked up to her, their plate armor hitting each other. Underneath the helmet she could see a smile and she looked down to his chest with a shy smile on her lips. The man pulled off his helmet and smiled as widely as possible. She looked up and saw the man’s beautifull face. While if you were a bystander the man didn’t look like Ilyanain for the slightest bit, the man wore rusted plate and his body was rotten. Even his face was decayed till the bone. He even missed an eye along with a large part of his skin, around his cheeck a few maggots crawled around, it was a gruesome sight to behold that thing was certain but as Blaire looked she could see only the man she secretly had a crush on, the beautifull Cassel, and nothing else. The man gently pushed her chin up and she stared the thing right in the face. The man slowly moved his face closer with a gentle smile displayed over his face and he carefully placed his lips on hers. She kissed the man back with all she got, there was even some tongue involved. She opened her eyes again and smiled a nervous girl’s smile. If you had seen it from another perspective the scene would have been awfull. Without knowing Blaire just full out kissed a rotting corpse. She smiled faintly “You’re lips taste funny Cassel...” The man laughed slightly. “Come, I know a nice place out here where we can... Continue...” The man grabbed her arm and with a giggle Blaire was pulled along.
Blaire leaned with her back against the wall as the awfull looking thing started to kiss her again, you could see one or two maggots dropping out the things jaw, pherhaps from Blaire’s tongue or pherhaps becouse the thing way already decaying. From behind the tree Blaire was leaning on came another two beings, both of them rotten to the fullest extent without they actually fall apart. Blaire looked up and frowned before pushing of the being from her and blushing. “S-silverstorm, Cadeamus... What are you doing here?” she asked as she spit out a maggot, clearly not aware that it wasn’t a gum but a nasty creature.
Irene glanced to her left side, trying not to move the slightest bit, but what she saw was just making her sick. She saw one of the disgusting looking beings all over Blaire, and she seemed to enjoy it. She was kissing that awfull looking thing! As another two of the beings crawled out the wall behind her she giggled and mumbled some, clearly dellusional before spitting out a maggot. She coudn’t stand it anymore, she was so close for one of the beings to go away but this was to much, she coudn’t let Blaire suffer like this. She took a gasp of breath before screaming “BLAIRE, WAKE UP!” she paused a second to take another breath and saw how another three sets of arms started to pulled her back closer to the wall. With her last effort she screamed as loud as she could “BLAIRE, JUST WAKE UP!”
Back in Blaire’s imagination she looked at the three officers. She blushed slightly. “W-what are you two doing out here?” she asked once again. The man who represented Cadeamus walked forward and smiled “We coudn’t let Cassel here have all the fun, that right Silverstorm?” The other being nodded slightly. Blaire frowned and peered at the being who pretended to be Marijn “Aren’t you married?” Marijn laughed shortly “Like that would keep me away from you...” Blaire blushed once again and let out a soft giggle as the three got closer to her. She looked up as she heard someone yell from far away “Blaire, wake up!” she frowned and looked at the three guards “Did you hear that?” The three shrugged slightly. She could see someone walk out the forest, another disgusting being only in her eyes it was Irene. The thing walked closer to her and spoke “Blaire, just wake up from you’re dream, i’m not letting you have all of them...” Blaire smirked slightly at Irene as she got closer.
Irene groaned slightly as the arms pulled her tighter against the wall. One arm had wrapped itself around her neck and it was getting diffucult to breath. She glanced to the other side of the room and saw how the arms around Marijn and Robertio slowly pulled back into the wall, dropping both of them on the floor. Were they... dead? She could feel more arms wrapping around her body and she could see how even more of the beings started to come out the wall infront of Blaire. Slowly crawling around her, getting more and more... Intimate... Irene decided it would be useless to try and call her out again, it seemed more and more futile as they progressed. She gasped for breath before once again screaming “MARIJN, WAKE UP NOW!” she glanced at the body of Marijn, it just layed there. She felt the arms squeze her tighter untill she could hardly breath. After a few more moments of struggeling she once again went unconcious.
Marijn sat there, the white area around him seemingly more empty then even before. He could hear Irene screaming in the distance for Blaire to wake up. He ignored it and went back to his own thaughts. His life had been a lie to start with... How could Jack have lied to him like this... “Who do you think I lied?” a voice said. Marijn glanced up at the face of his old paladin trainer. He slowly stood up and glanced at the man. “J-jack...” The old man smiled faintly. “W-why... Why did you lie to me?” Jack smiled faintly again “Would you have wanted to grow up, doubting you’re own path?” Marijn looked down at the white floor. “All that I have done, erasing the memories of that dreadfull night... It was to make sure you don’t end up as you’re parents...” Marijn looked up again “B-but...” Jack shook his head. “Did you want to become a fel user, a shadow caster... Someone who torture’s people for their own joy?” this time Marijn slowly shook his head. “Then do the right thing Marijn... Do the right thing, wake up and protect you’re friends...” Marijn frowned “Wha-...” Jack smiled as Marijn could hear Irene’s voice echo in the distance.
Marijn opened his eyes and slowly got up while looking around. He could see how messed up things were. He mumbled something under his breath as a faint glowing circle of light apeared on the floor around his feet. The beings who were getting intimate with Blaire looked around, aswell as the other beings on the floor. The things glared at him with their rotten faces. Marijn mumbled something again under his breath as he closed his eyes. The circle of light started to slowly get wider and brighter. His hands slowly started to glow aswell. As he opened his eyes again he whispered the same thing, a little louder. “I’ll protect... my friends...” With that bright wings of light started to materialize behind his back. “I will, protect my friends...” He said again. He glanced at the dead body of Robertio and the now lifeless looking body’s of the rest of his friends. A small halo of light apeared above his head as he walked towards Irene and blaire. The arms who had been holding them released the two as the beings themself crawled out the wall. They fired fierce groans towards Marijn. As Irene and Blaire fell to the ground, Marijn placed his hand on the wall. Imediatly an arm reached out the wall and grabbed his arm, followed by another dozen of hands all reaching out for his arm and body. Marijn moved his free hand backwards and inhaled deeply. He fired his arm forwards and with a loud crack he hit the wall, the beings around it catching white fire before slowly retreating, even the wall started to crumble. A white patern apeared on the wall. Bits of light shined trough the hole in the wall and into the room. Marijn turned around as the wings and halo of light faded. With a last effort he punched his fists together. He felt how the light surged trough his veins and muscles as his fists collided. He then punched the floor with the last bits of strength as the pattern apeared on the floor. The beings who were in range of the symbol slowly started to burn before crawling away, back to the darkness. Marijn fell over after wasting all the strength he had managed to retrieve, the light around him faded as he went unconcious.
Marijn groaned as he opened his eyes. He glanced up at the ceiling of his crappy tent. Was it another dream? Would he soon be covered with tens of those... Beings? He slowly stood up, nearly falling over a few times but in the end managing to keep his balance. He rubbed his head and saw that his hands we’re heavily burned, along with the rest of his right arm. He stepped out the his tent and groaned abit more as the bright light shined over his body. This had to be another dream again... He placed his hands against his head and wished he would wake up already. He could see Irene sitting near the remains of a long out fire and groaned. He remembered how weird his last dream ended here, he had kissed Irene... Why the fel would he do that? Irene looked up and her face brightend slightly. “M-Marijn! You’re alright!” She quickly stood up before running over. Marijn smiled passively “What’s going on Irene?” Her second of hapiness faded away again before she spoke “Well, we managed to escape becouse of you, but...” Marijn frowned, this wasn’t a dream... He had free’d them, but how... He coudn’t remember anything past finding out about his parents. He glanced at Irene “But?” this time Irene looked away slightly. “Well... Robertio passed away back there, apparently he was dead long before you freed us... Marijn sighed sadly “How about the others... What precicely happened, I can’t remember a thing...” Irene perked an eyebrow “You don’t remember?” Marijn shook his head “Not a thing...”
Irene cleared her throat and gestured for Marijn to take a seat “Right... Well, when I woke up I saw you using some kind of holy light spell... You had glowing wings of light and you shatterd the wall and all the beings around us...” Marijn frowned “I did that?” Irene put up her finger and Marijn knew he had to be silent for now “Anyway, you passed out after leaving some weird circle shaped smell on the floor. As I tried to wake up the rest I did some research on the circle... Apparently it’s a kind of spell used by master paladins. It has a high percentage of healing power and well, the beings who stepped into it caught white fire... So I don’t know where you learned this but...” She glanced at Marijn, hoping he would share something. Marijn looked up in turn and wondered if he should tell her about what he saw, about Jack, about his mother and father, his real last name... But in the end he decided to keep it quiet. “Right, you don’t want to tell... Anyway, I managed to wake up Samantha, ilyanain and Cadeamus and together we carried you back home... The rest are still resting in their tents, it seems like the past three days have been a true horror, doesn’t it?” Marijn sighed and rubbed his hands trough his hair again. “We’ve been there for three days?” Irene nodded slightly. Three days... What a weird perception of reality they had in there... Marijn slowly stood up before nearly falling down again. “Whoa, calm down Marijn... I’ve let Samantha check you and well... You’ve used up all light you had... You’re muscles and body are fine, but I guess when you freed us you must have used an imense amount of light energy.” Marijn opened his hand and focused. Normally a small orb of light would apear, now nothing happened. Marijn frowned deeply and sighed, how annoying...
Two days later most of the camp had recovered from their external and internal injuries. They had also burried Robertio when they had the chance and with their minds somewhat smoothed after all they expirienced it was time to figure out what they were going to do next. Becouse quite frankly the man posed quite a threat to the neighbouring lands and city’s, pherhaps even to Stormwind. And as the guards they had sworn to protect the city, no matter what. “Right, after cleaning the keep of whatever was left there we managed to obtain some maps and documents... Luckily there were only one of two of those beings left, the rest have probable gone along with their master to another location.” Irene placed the maps in the grass infront of her. The group was sitting in a circle in the grass, still at the same camp as ealier. Protected by a thick wall of tree’s. “On this map we found he has some plans to attack nearby villages and city’s. Apparently he will attack wherever he put red circles... So, that means he will attack at Morgan’s Vigil here in the Burning Steps... And Nethergard keep in the blasted lands...” Marijn frowned “He’s planning on attacking Netherguard keep, that place is well fortified...” Irene shrugged “It doesn’t apear he’s alone, look... There are four colours here, while on most ocasions they are wide spread...” Ilyanain groaned slightly “You mean, there are more of them?” Irene rubbed the back of her head and frowned “I believe so, yes... But I can’t be entirely sure... Yet for him to attack such a large place at Nethergard Keep, alone? It would seem impossible...” The group glanced at the map of the Eastern Kingdoms and where they would attack. About nine of the ten places alliance terretory, yet here and there they would cross a horde camp off. Maybe becouse they needed the place to advance, or just becouse it would give them a technical advantage? Either way this was bad news. Marijn sighed “We got to get back to Lakeshire and warn them, since they are the closest it’s probably where they will stike first... Afterwards we should go back to Stormwind and send out some messagers so they can prepare...” Ilyanain frowned slightly. It seems like this will be a lot more trouble then he thaught it would be.
After the group packed their tents and whatever they used the last couple of days they started to walk towards Lakeshire. The group stopped infront the large bridge that lead to the small town. Yet what they saw was barely the remains of the once glorious village. The buildings burnt down, and not a single soul to be found. Slowly they walked over the bridge and inspected the buildings. Here and there in a corner they could swear something was watching their every movement. Observing them. Yet when they looked, there was nothing to be found. Marijn and Samantha could feel the dark magic scattered all over the place. They glanced at a trail of blood and some drag marks that led to the burnt down town hall. After checking inside they discovered nothing. The blood trail suddenly stopped in the middle of the room where a large burn mark covered the floor. What kind of cruel things happened here was already displaying themselves within their minds. The beings had dragged villagers into the flames, while fiercly resisting, the beings overwhelmed them.
After checking every inch of the city for any survivors they decided it was time to hurry, and so the group started to jog back home to Stormwind City. They had to send out scouts as soon as possible before more innocent lifes were taken away by those masters of dark magic. And a tiny little thing just kept nagging back in Marijn’s mind. The reason why they were doing what they were doing. Back when he first met the man he had spoken of an event, pherhaps something he had witnessed... But coudn’t remember... Had he, or one of his college’s called upon this wrath? He could only wonder as they jogged home.
