Tales of the Stormwind Regiment
“Laurie, you coming to eat sweetie?” sounded in the house. The small girl with red hair and a matching dress who had been playing with her friend Peter looked up before putting her hands as a cone on her mouth “I’m coming mommy!” she yelled downstairs. She looked at Peter who was wearing some scrappy clothes and sighed sadly “We’ll continue later...” She glanced at the pile of blocks wich was supposebly some sort of castle “Let’s go eat Peter.” She smiled and stood up, dragging her friend along “Not so fast Laurie, we might trip and fall!” Peter yelled after her as the two ran down the stairs. Once downstairs a woman dressed in a linnen dress with a frown awaited them “What did I tell you about running around, you might fall and hurt yourself!” Laurie wiped it away with a hand gesture and pulled Peter along by his hand “What are we eating mommy?” The mother sighed and moved a large pot over and placed it on the table “Tonight we eat steamed chicken soup.” Laurie and Peter quickly climbed onto their chairs and nearly started to drool “Yummy! Let’s eat then!” Laurie nearly yelled out as she smelled the overwhelmingly delicious fumes from the soup. “Not yet sweety, we should wait for your father.” Laurie looked up at her mom, clearly sad that she coudn’t dig right in. “Ahhw, why?” The mother smiled faintly “He’ll be right home from work sweety, just be a little patient.” Laurie planted her face on the table and smelled the delicious smell from the soup again. She could nearly feel her stomach growling for food.
About five minutes later the door of the small comfortable wooden home was opened and a tall man walked inside. The man simple linnen stitched clothes. On his head a small staw headpiece made to block the sun out someone’s eyes. “I’m home!” he called as the mother glanced around the corner. She greeted him with a hug and a kiss on the lips “Welcome home honey.” She said and escorted the man trough the house and towards the table. “The food was just ready, so let’s eat!” the woman said. The man smiled widely “Sounds like a good plan to me.” He petted Laurie on the head “Heey sweetie, and hallo to you aswell Peter, decided to come by and play with Laurie?” Peter quickly nodded and smiled at the man.
A few minutes later they were all eating their soup. “So, how was work honey?” The man looked up from his meal and wiped his mouth on a small linnen cloth. “Well, the fishing went quite decent. We manged to capture some fish, but there ain’t to much left now the Loch has been drained... Other then that, the farming is still alright, so there isn’t much to complain.” the man said before returning to his chicken soup. He stopped for a second again and glanced at his wife “How was your day sweetheart?” The woman tabbed her chin slightly “Well, i’ve washed the clothes, cleaned the house abit, met up with your mother Peter.” Peter looked up and smiled, clearly not interested the slightest bit. “And after some talking with her I did some... She sighed as she realised everyone was to bussy devouring soup that no one was actually listening. She smirked slightly and continued eating aswell.”
“Mommy, me and Peter will be playing outside for abit, oke?” The woman nodded slightly “Alright, just don’t make it to late alright?” Laurie nodded quickly and grabbed Peters hand before pulling him along again. Peter waved goodbye to the mother of Laurie and ran along with her. “Where are we going Laurie?” Peter asked. She pointed at the bar, a few buildings from their home. “Let’s go play with the grown up people there!” Peter stopped Laurie from running off again “Are you sure that’s a good idea... Your mom always tells us to stay away from the bar...” Laurie smiled widely “Come on, there’s nothing to be afraid off!” Laurie again pulled Peter along by his arm and together they walked into the bar. They could smell the harsh fumes of the tabaco and booze. It was nearly a fight between the two smells on wich was more awfull. “It smells in here Laurie...” Peter complained. Laurie clearly ignored it and walked further, down a few stairs untill they reached the main hall. There were all kinds of people enjoying their evening, mostly travelers but also some common folks. A lot of them were dwarves. Thou it wasn’t al to strange for a human family like them to live here. Around the bar saw dwarfs, gnomes, humans, elfes and even two draenei. “Psst Peter, look at those two, those are dranai right?” Peter nodded slightly and glanced their way. “I think so Laurie... Wanna go talk to them?” They glanced at the two draenei. Both female and covered in the same looking armor. It didn’t look all to effective as armor becouse their belly’s were completely exposed. Next to their chairs one had a long spear and the other one a long sword and a shield. “Let’s go talk to them.” Laurie insisted as she pulled Peter along once again trough the filthy smelling bar.
“Excuse me?” One of the draenei glanced down next to their table and frowned she smirked slightly “Zennshinagas, Gul adare Azgala re za Tor Melar” The two draenei shared a quick laughter. “Excuuuuse me!” Laurie spoke louder and much more annoyingly. The draenei glanced at the girl again “I don’t have time for you, sorry.” she glanced back at her friend before smiling “Arakal Te Danashj Rakkan, Rakkas Zar Gulamire om Thorje” Laurie sighed angrily and pushes her hands together “Shall we try that pair over there?” Peter said as he pointed to another Draenei and an elf sitting at a table. Laurie glanced up at the two draenei and sighed “Fine, these two are stupid anyway.” She made some taunting gestures towards the two draenei before running off with Peter. They stopped at the table and immediately felt an overwhelming pressence. The elf glanced at them and frowned deeply. At least as far as you could see trough the thick layer of plated armor around nearly every inch of the elfs body. He was quite mascular aswell, and seemed really dangerous. The draenei girl next to him however didn’t seem al to dangerous at all. “Pherhaps we should leave them be Laurie...” Peter said but Laurie was determined to talk to a draenai. “Excuse me, miss!?” the draenei glanced at the girl and smiled “What can I help you with little girl?” Laurie smiled and pointed at her forhead “Why do you have horns?” The draenei smiled slightly “Why woudn’t I have one?” Laurie frowned and shrugged “How come you look so blue?” This time before she could awnser the elf slowly stood up and walked over to the two. With ease he grabbed both of them by the shirt and lifted them up. “Bye miss draenei!” Laurie yelled as the elf dragged them towards the door. She in turn waved her hand slightly and smiled.
After the elf had tossed them out the barkeeper had told them to not come back in and bother to guests. “So, what should we do now Laurie?” Peter said while yawning. “It’s already quite late, pherhaps we should go back?” he continued. Laurie frowned “But I want to do some more... How about we go to the lake?” Peter shook his head. “No Laurie, they tell us it’s dangerous there.” Laurie sighed deeply “Your no fun at all Peter!” Peter yawned slightly “I’m going home Laurie... See you tomorrow...” Laurie glanced at the ground “Don’t you want to sleep over anymore?” Peter shook his head slightly “It’s not that I don’t want to sleep over anymore, I just think my parrent prefer me in my own bed, that’s all.” Peter smiled and started to walk away. Laurie sighed and sat down in the tall grass. There wasn’t anyone else to play with except for Peter. Sometimes travelers had kids from their age, but they never stayed long... She plucked some grass and felt a cold shivver pass troughout her spine. She looked up and felt the cold breeze blowing. Maybe it was indeed just time to sleep, they could play again tomorrow.
The next day in the evening Laurie and Peter were once again eating at Laurie her house. It was as if the same ritual repeated itself from yesterday. “And sweetie how was work?” The man shrugged slightly “Just like yesterday, it’s alright... Thou i’ve heard that there’s something going on...” The woman frowned “What do you mean, something going on?” The man shrugged “Apperently forces from Stormwind are on the move troughout the land... Or something like that...” The woman frowned “Forces of Stormdwind?” The man nodded. “Don’t know why thou...” The man shrugged and continued eating his food.
Later that evening Laurie and Peter were playing outside again. In the distance a weird noice. “Say Peter, what’s that noice?” Peter looked around from his pile of leaves and shrugged “No clue, it sounds weird thou.” The sound seemed like the rumbeling of thunder in the distance. “Wanna go look?” Laurie asked. Peter focused himself on his pile of leaves again “Not really, I don’t want to know...” Laurie sighed and stood up from her own pile of leaves “Well, i’m going to look, even if you don’t come!” She slowly started to walk away but realised Peter was just bluffing “Fine, i’ll come aswell...” He said as he walked towards Laurie. “However if it’s to dangerous we should go back, arlight?” Laurie nodded slightly as the two wondered off.
Laurie fell down in the tall grass next to her home again along with Peter “Well, we didn’t find what was causing the sound...” Peter sighed “Nope, the sound just suddenly stopped.” Laurie sighed. They glanced at each other and smirked “What do you think it was Laurie?” Peter asked. Laurie rolled around abit trough the grass and shrugged. “Pherhaps it was a dragon?” she said. Peter laughed shortly but realized it was a possibility. “Well, what do you think it was Peter?” Peter rolled after Laurie and coughed as he inhaled some grass. “Pherhaps it was the mountain, it’s hungry and it’s going to eat mean people!” Laurie giggled softly and glanced up at the stars above them. “I wonder...” Peter rolled next to her and also glanced up. “Indeed...”
Laurie opened her eyes and yawned. She glanced up at the sky and frowned she glanced to her side and saw Peter lying there aswell. They had fallen asleep outside last night. She quickly poked Peter and with some groans he to awakened. “We fell asleep outside Peter!” Peter glanced around “Ahh, your right...” Laurie quickly got up her feet again “We should get inside before someone notices that we slept outside the whole night!” Peter yawned widely and got up “Fine, fine... Your house or my house?” Laurie frowned “Let’s go my house!” Peter nodded and the two of them silently moved in the house.
Laurie’s mother knocked on the door of the bedroom. “Laurie, are you awake yet?” She slowly pushed open the door and spotted Laurie sleeping and a few meters from her on a smaller bed was Peter, also vast asleep. “Psst, Laurie... If you’re awake you might want to see this.” she whispered trough the room. Laurie made some noices as if she had just woken up and slowly turned over “Mama?” she asked, faking a clear state of confusion. “Laurie, get up... There’s something you would want to see.” Laurie slowly wobbled out of bed and wiped her hand past her eyes. “What is it mama?” The mother slowly escorted Laurie to the window on wich they had a decent view over the small village of Thelsamar. In the distance, about a hundred meters from the village marches an army. Laurie’s ayes widened as she saw it, disposing of the fake sleep right away. The army shined faintly in the warm sun. The blue with yellow flags blowing slightly in the wind. A magnificant sight to behold. “Are they coming here mama?” The mother shrugged slightly “Seems like it.” Laurie quickly jogged away from the window and shook Peter awake, in that small time they had been there, faking to be asleep he had actually fallen asleep. “Huhn?” Peter braught out. “Peter you got to see this!” Laurie insisted as she pulled him out of his warm and a slightly comfortable bed. “What do I have to see?” Peter groaned as he wiped the sleep out of his eyes. Laurie pointed to the group of reflecting metal men in the distance. “Look!” Peter followed her gaze and he to was amazed. He wiped his eyes again to see if he was still dreaming but after doing that they were still here. “What’s an army doing here?” Laurie shrugged “Let’s watch from outside!”
Laurie and Peter quickly ran trough the tall grass towards the group of plated soldiers and giant horses. Now that the army was even closer it was all the more impressive. She glanced at the reflecting metal of their armor and then at all the blue with the yellow lions displayed on everything. The logo was displayed on their chest, bags, horses, flags and some of the soldiers even wore lion shaped stickers on their helmets. Laurie nearly fell over from shock as she heard a harsh female voice shout out “HALT!” it sounded as the group slowly came to a stop, remaining in the same figure they had walked thusfar. Five man next to each other and four rows. Along with some horses and infront of the group one woman dressed in full plate. Her black hair rolled along with the wind, nearly in synchronization with her cape. On her blue with yellow tabard a golden looking badge with the name “Evarea Vanpelt” engraved into it. The woman turned around and faced the group behind her before her awfully loud voice sounded again “Alright, at ease everyone. Go set up the camp here!” Her command was followed by a fully syncronized mass salute back at her before the soldiers started to walk away from their ranks, finding a suitable spot to place down their things and set up a tent. The woman in charge started to walk over to the town. Laurie pointed at the woman “Let’s follow her, Peter!” Peter nodded and the two of them quickly pursued the woman in silence. The woman on her own attracted much unwanted attention in the village. People glanced at the heavy plated woman before whispering to each other. The woman clearly ignoring it turned to the people around her “Could anyone of you tell me where I can find your leader?” Laurie knew the leader here was no one less then Peter’s dad. But he was always bussy in the main building. A character dressed in black silk walked out of the crowed. And Laurie reconised the man instantly as indeed Peter’s dad, the leader of Thelsamar. “What brings you and your army here, Stormwindian?” the man in black spoke. The woman looked around the village once again and nodded slightly “We are here to protect Thelsamar!” The man in black clothes frowned “You show up with an army and you say you want to protect us... Protect us from -WHAT- exactly?” The woman sighed and saw how the villages were getting weary of her arrival. “There is threat roaming trough the kingdoms. What it is precicely, I do not know, but we are dispatched here to assist you should there indeed be an attack here.” The man groaned and waved away what she just said “What threat would require this amount of man?” The woman sighed “Like I said, I do not know. I was simply told to come here and guard this place... If you don’t like it, i’m sorry, but I plan to do precicely this.” The man groaned some more before walking off back into the crowed, a few people following him. Evarea sighed and turned around, it was better to set up the camp.
Laurie and Peter walked past some of the already set up tents and looked around the place. Most of the guards had taken their armor of so they could atleast set up the camp normally. While the ones with armor still on were keeping watch for any trouble. After a few moments they saw the woman in charge enter a tent. The two started to move to the tent but one of the soldiers stopped them. “Where do you two think your going?” the guard asked. Laurie smiled sweetly as she talked, trying to be as innocent as possible “We are just looking around, sir.” The man smiled widely “How nice of you, however it’s dangerous to walk around here.” Laurie glanced around “Why dangerous... You won’t protect me?” The man sighed slightly “I mean something can fall over on you or things like that, come on kids time to go home.” The guard shoved them back till outside the camp and with some frowns Laurie glanced after the guard as he went back into the camp. “Come on Peter, let’s try again to meet the lady.” Peter quickly nodded and both of them silently started to avoid the guards.
Laurie and Peter glanced around the tent where they had seen the lady officer go in. “There’s no one around.” Peter said as they quickly aprouched the tent. And with that they easily snuck into the tent and Laurie let out a giggle. “Good job, Peter.” she said before they turned their focus on te inside of the tent. There wasn’t much except a half undressed woman glancing at them. It was the officer from before, who was changing into something more comfortable. Peter quickly turned and placed his hands infront of his eyes while Laurie pushes him outside the tent. The woman perked an eyebrow at the small girl who was left. And after a second they could hear a guard checking on Peter who was standing outside. Followed by a guard entering the small tent. The guard glanced around but stopped as he saw the woman half undressed. The guard smiled widely before walking out again. And this was the final straw that broke Evarea’s back. “GET OUT MY TENT, YOU ANNOYING LITTLE!” Laurie gasped for breath and quickly jogged out, pulling Peter along as she passed him. The guard who had just entered the tent stared after them for a while with a smirk on his face.
“Well that didn’t do as planned...” Peter said. Laurie nodded in agreement and fell down in the tall grass again. “We can try again later, I think...” Peter said. Laurie smirked “You just want to see her naked again don’t you!” Peter blushed slightly and quickly awnsered “No, no, not at all... I’m just curious why they are here, really!” Laurie perked an eyebrow “Really hmm?” Peter nodded fiercly “Really, she is waaaay to old for me, she’s like thirthy or something!” Peter laughed a short and awkward laugh but noticed he was laughing along and stopped. “Don’t you want to find out why they are here?” Peter asked. Laurie shrugged “They explained it to the village earlier...” Peter nodded slightly “I guess, wanna play some more with the guards then?” Laure smirked “I do.”
Later that day when most of the guard camp was set up another group arrived right at the doorsteps of the guard camp. Laurie and Peter glanced at the guards running past then, grabbing weapons and moving towards the place where the group arrived. Laurie quickly pulled Peter along with her “Let’s go see what’s going on.” As they arrived at the scene there was already some word exchange between the two groups going untill the female officer from the regiment arrived. “You blades are here for our assistence, right?” she spoke as her voice overcame the rest of the people yelling trough each other. A moment later the chattering died out and another man stepped forward, clearly the superior of that group. He wore black leather along with the black tabard with the white blade. “Yeah, we’ve come to assist you, so keep your damn man down, we haven’t even arrived and you people are already armed and ready to attack us!” Evarea focused on the group and gestured them to put down their weapons. “You can make your camp on the other side of Thelsamar, I expect you to run patrols aswell while we’re stationed here, if anything comes up, tell us immediately.” The officer of the blades nodded slightly and as he moved the group behind him moved with him. “Let’s go guys...”
Once again later that day, nearing the evening the two tent camps were set up completely, however a third party arrived. These however didn’t look much like the stormwindian guards that Laurie and Peter saw earlier, neither did they look like the sort of scavengers from the blades. No, these man looked like knigts. It was only a group of five people, yet they wore silver looking armor, matching with a long white cape and the strange Disciple tabard. Over their faces their wore thick white caps, making their faces hidden in shadows. And once again the guards andd this time also the blades grouped up to meet the five strange looking men. Laurie and Peter quickly moved along with them to see how the conversation went.
The five man on horses stopped infront of the group with guards and mercenary’s. The man who wrote first and in the middle slowly got of his mount and walked forward. He pulled of his thick hood and displayed an face in the late fourty’s. A rough black beard together with a black mustache. His eyes deemed quite friendly, yet over his forehead crossed a long scar. “Good evening, to both groups.” He turned himself to the group of guards and made a slight bow “Good evening Regiment.” then he turned himself to the mercanary’s and made another slight bow “Good evening mercanary’s.” The leader of the group quickly interviened “You can just call us the blades, or blades for hire... you know?” The man smiled faintly and spoke with his calm voice “I know, mercanary.” He once again turned himself to the guards “Where can we set up out camp, guards?” Evarea shrugged slightly “Wherever there is room.” she spoke back. The man nodded and turned around before climbing back on his heavily plated horse. And without saying a thing the group rode of slightly till they found a decent place. Laurie glanced at Peter who was still clearly impressed by the group that had just arrived “They are cool huhn?” peter asked. Laurie nodded slightly “They do look amazing, shall we go visit them?” Peter turned around and faced Laurie with an expression on his face that clearly showed he hadn’t given it a single thaught that they could just walk over there and talk to them. But his expression started to fade away as he thaught about it some more “We’ll just get in their way, just like with the blue guards...” Laurie shook her head and grabbed Peter’s arm with a smile “Offcourse not, they will be happy to meet us!”
The two of them slowly aprouched the soon to be camp of the disciples. And one of the five man glanced up and spotted them. He walked over to the two and kneeled down infront of them. Without saying anything he glanced at them, his face shrouded in the darkness of his hood. Laurie and Peter stared back at the man, clearly not to sure on what to say. All they could do was stare back at this strange man. The man lifted up the hood of his head and displayed quite a young face, around the age of twenty. Clean shaved and a pleasant smile on his face “So, what are you two doing here?” the man said while smiling. Now that they were no longer staring at an unkown identity it was a lot easier to talk back. “We just wanted to see you up close!” Laurie said and smiled widely. Peter along side her nodded quickly “Y-you look amazing!” The man smiled brightly by the compliments. Lauria glanced back at the ground for a moment and shuffled her feet abit “Do you want to ask anything?” the man asked to the two. Laurie glanced back up and smiled “Why are you here?” the man smiled “To keep you both safe.” Laurie shrugged slightly “from what sir?” The man tabbed his chin for a moment “I don’t know little girl, we haven’t been told. But i’ll my it my life goal to see you and your friend here won’t get harmed.” Laurie smiled and laughed but Peter seemed unsatisfied. The man glanced at him and frowned “Something wrong buddy?” Peter looked up at the man “Will you keep our family’s safe aswell?” The smirked widely “Well, offco-.” the man was interupted by one of the other disciples yelling him. “Ohh, sorry buddy I have to go.” the man pulled his hood back over his head and his face was back to being shrouded in darkness. The man reached for his belt and took out a small shining dagger with a cord on it and hung it around Laurie her neck. “This will help keep you safe, and if you don’t need to use it, give it back to me when we depart again.” The man smiled and slowly stood up from his place. “What’s your name sir?” Peter asked as the man walked way. The man turned his head slightly, displaying once again only the darkness of his hood. “The name is Dave Yerson.” he turned around and walked away. Peter glanced after him and then at Laurie again with her shining new dagger. “What should we do now?”
Laurie and Peter slowly made their way towards the main of the regiment, the tent of Evarea. They knew where it was and the way the would barely be able to be seen. And so they sat down outside the main tent, inside they could hear voices of three people. One annoyingly loud voice of the leader from the regiment, the other one calm and peacefull, most likely the leader of the disciples and the last voice was that of the leader of the blades. “I got more intel on what we’re supposed to fight.” a female voice sounded from inside the tent. After that the calm voice sounded again “Well, how about you share it with the rest of us so we know aswell...” a sigh followed the comment and then the voice of the woman sounded again “Right, so we’re supposed to fight a dark mage also named The Vek’omax. Till recently multiple officers of the regiment has chased one down, and failed. They lost a member of their group and they say they went mentally insane during their search for him. Needless to say, these Vek’omax are incredebly dangerous, and they have targeted this village.” Laurie glanced at Peter as he shrugged slightly. Peter leaned closer to Laurie and whispered “What are they talking about?” Laurie shrugged and whispered back “I have no idea Peter.” they leaned back against the tent and listend closely again.
After that, they had discussed some more plans, but Laurie and Peter got bored and went back home. It was already late in the evening, the full moon shined brightly in the midnight sky. The two of them were already laying in their beds, ready to sleep when they felt a icecold chill crawl slowly down their spine. Laurie sat up straight and shivvered before looking at Peter. “Did you feel that Pete?” Peter just laid there, clearly not bothered. She sighed and stood up from her bed. The chill she felt still didn’t leave her alone, it slowly felt to become colder even. “Ughh, Pete i’m cold...” she walked over to Peter’s bed, wich was nothing more then a matras on the floor along with a few blankets and a pilow. She dragged het pillow and blanket along and lied next to Peter on his sort of bed. Her back towards his back, hoping it would warm abit. “You don’t mind right, Peter?” She slowly cuddled up against her friend and sighed happily as she felt her spine warming back up abit again. She felt how Peter turned around and felt an arm grab her around her waist. A little shocked she nearly yelled out “Peter, what are you doing?” She glanced over her shoulder and her eyes widened as she glanced at the rotten face of Peter. Once normal and nice, now gray, lifeless and decayed. His flesh rotten, his skin peeled open and dried blood streaming slightly from his wounds. Peter groaned as he wrapped his other arm around her neck, pulling her closer to him. She immediately started to struggle for freedom, hitting him off her while yelling for help. As she managed to get free she quickly ran to the door. She tried to open the door, but futile. She could hear her parent on the other side “Sweety, are you oke in there?” She was so scared she coudn’t even react to her parents. She just banged on the door abit, hoping it would open.
She glanced over her shoulder and saw how Peter had stood up, blood slowly oozing out his decayed wounds and onto the white bedsheets. He slowly walked closer and Laurie started to try even harder to get out, she banged on the door with all she head, screaming like it was her last breath. She glanced back again and saw the rotten body of her friend so close she could smell the awfull breath. In despair she quickly grabbed the small dagger around her neck and pulled it off before stabbing it out towards Peter with closed eyes. As she opened her eyes again she saw how Peter stood there, the normal one. Not the decayed one she had just seen, only a dagger sticked out of his chest. Peter slowly fell backwards and the door behind her opened as her parents came rushing in. Laurie ignored how her parents gasped for breath and how they started screaming. She could only focus on one thing. She could only see how that dagger was sticking out his chest. How she had just killed her best friend, someone she had been with since she was born. Her only true friends since they day she was born, now lied died becouse of her. She slowly walked over to the lifeless body of Peter and grabbed the knife, she could feel her mother trying to pull her off but she ignored it. She spoke with a low voice “Y-Y-You c-can’t be... dead...” she said as she pulled out the knife with force, blood oozing out the fresh wood and onto the floor. She moved her hands to the wound and slowly attempted to push the blood back in, but futile “Peter...” she spoke as a tear crawled it’s way out her eye. “Peter, you can die...” This time she could feel her fathers arm grab her and pull off her. She reached out for her friend. “Peter, please, get up... PLEASE!” She cried out as she was dragged around the corner. Her mother stood there and watched how Peter’s body just lied there on the floor. A slightly smile apeared on her lips. It was just fine that Peter was gone, he would have just hurt her daughter anyway, it just pained her she coudn’t do it herself.
That same night a little later a few guards inspected the scene and took story’s from what happened. The parents of Peter cried a lot and wished it was someone else. Deep inside they wished it would have been Laurie instead of Peter. Laurie was taken in in a tent at the regiment camp. The same tent she had been in before, if only for a moment and the same tent she had been eavesdropping them together with Peter. Peter, how she missed her dear friend. Even sitting here while the officer of the regiment was talking to her would have been more fun with Peter along with her. She glanced up at Evarea and sighed. She just wanted to play with Peter instead of listening to the nagging of this annoying lady. Thus far she didn’t even bother listening, she knew what she would have said. She might be a kid but she knew that she was responsible for the death of Peter. “Are you even listening?” Evarea asked. Laurie looked up at the woman and shook her head “I wasn’t, miss...”
Evarea grabbed a chair and placed it infront of Laurie. She placed it in the opposite way so she could lean on the backrailing with her arms, and so she did. She sat down and leaned on the back before staring at the little girl, her hands were covered in blood along with a few blood spatters across her face and dress. “Why did you...” Evarea realised it wasn’t the best way to say that she killed him, even thou it was true. The girl looked up, her eyes slightly red of tears. “Why did I what, kill my one friend?” Evarea glanced at the girl and perked an eyebrow before nodding. “Why did you?” the girl glanced at her hands and remained quiet for a moment. Some simulated a knock by knocking on a wooden pole outside “Can I come in?” Evarea glanced at the opening of the tent and stood up. She walked over and peered who it was. “What are you doing here?” she asked the the person outside. “I want to see the girl for a moment, please.” Evarea sighed “Go on, she doesn’t want to talk anyway.” As the woman walked out a larger man entered. The shining silver plate and the thick hood over his head. He turned the chair around and sat down before pulling off his hood, displaying the quite young face. It was the disciple she had met earlier this day, Dave Yerson. “Heey there... Remember me?” he said. The girl looked up and nodded slowly. “What happened?” he asked and Laurie just glanced at her hands again. “We can’t help you if you don’t tell us...” Laurie looked up at the disciple and sighed sadly “P-Peter... He was... Diffrent...” Laurie said. Dave frowned deeply “What do you mean changed?” Laurie seemed to be having a difficult time putting her words together. “H-he... Seemed dead... And h-he tried to attack me!” The disciple frowned and let out a long “Hmmmm, is it a possibility that you were sleeping when this all happened?” Laurie shrugged and the tears started to apear in her eyes again. “I-I don’t k-know!”
A little while later the disciple Dave and the leader of the regiment group Evarea were standing outside the tent, talking about the murder. “Well, what did you find out?” Evarea said with a groan. Dave sighed “Not much, it seemed like she was either sleep walking or dillusional... She thaught her friend Peter was dead and came back to live to kill her, or something like that...” Evarea sighed “How troublesome for that little girl, and for the boy to... I wonder where she even got the knife she used to kill her little friend, after some inspection it seems to be of excellent craftmanship, something a little girl shoudn’t have...” Dave frowned deeply and started to become a little nervous “Y-Yeah... I wonder where she got such a dangerous knife...” Dave glanced to the ground in shame but Evarea was to bussy to even notice. “Anyway, think we should keep her locked up or something?” Evarea asked. Dave frowned slightly “I doubt she’s a real killer, I think it was a dillusional accident, nontheless... If she has more of these dillusions it could prove to be dangerous and we should lock her up before more people get wounded.” Evarea frowned “But to lock up a girl of ten, seems a little extreme, right?” Dave sighed “It is, but sometimes we can’t help but use extreme measures.” Evarea sighed and knew it would probably the right thing to do, it just didn’t feel comfortable, locking up a little girl. She glanced up at the night and counted the endless stars in the distance. “Alright, let’s go get her out the tent an-.” She was interupted as Laurie sprinted out the tent as hard as she could. The same second Evarea and Dave started running after her. Quickly moving trough the tents and under large objects. Laurie knew precicely how to get away. “Laurie, please stop!” Evarea yelled after her as she noticed the girl was just to with evading the tents and all. She glanced to the left and saw how dave had put in his hood and started to run harder then her. And after a while of running she finally stopped becouse she had lost sight of the two. Evarea glanced around at the few guards that were staring at her and groaned “Go find the girl damnit!” The privates quickly stood up, saluted and started to dash off. Evarea sighed, why did you have to run away Laurie?
Evarea quickly jumped into a hollow tree she had discovered a long time ago with Peter, they used to pack secret things in here, but it was large enough for both of them to stand in to, let alone just her. Once you were in it was nearly impossible to see you, the entrance was covered by tall grass and the tree looked just like any other. In the faint distance she could hear the voice of Dave “Laurie, please come here, it’s not safe out here!” he yelled. She glanced around her small hiding place and saw a few toys of her and Peters. She sat down and wrapped her hands around her legs before the tears slowly started to crawl out her eyes. Why did it have to go like this she wondered. If only she could go back in time and didn’t do it... She wondered why she even saw it like that. Why did she see her friend like that, was she sick or was she indeed sleeping when it all happened? Did she just imagine everything that happen? She sighed and burried her face into her arms before softly sobbing. She could hear the yelling of Dave futher and further away, untill she didn’t hear it anymore. She looked up as she heard a voice from outside the tree, a familiar voice, Peter’s voice. “Laurie, what are you doing in there?” Hey eyes widened and immediately she crawled out the tree. And once she did she saw her friend standing there, a hole in his chest where she had stabbed him. “Laurie, is something wrong?” Peter asked. She snicked softly and walked back till her back was against the tree. “P-peter... Are you oke?” she stuttered, clearly scared to death. Peter smiled faintly “I’m just fine... Like you could kill me like that silly!” Laurie smiled faintly as she looked at her friend. “So you are allright?” Peter nodded “Like I told you, i’ll watch over you silly!” Laurie smiled, this was to good to even be true. Peter was alright, and she wasn’t in trouble anymore. Now both of them could just go back to the house and sleep, she was tired already, it was way past her bedtime. Even if this was just an exception she just wanted to go to bed and forget about tonight “Are you alright?” Peter asked with a smile on his face. Laurie smiled faintly “Ohh nothing Peter, i’m just tired, shall we go back to my house?” Peter smiled widely “I would love to.”
“Damnit, you didn’t find the girl?” Evarea yelled at the Dave. He in turn sighed and shook his head. “I looked everywhere, I just can’t find her... Who knows where she could have went.” Evarea sighed “This is just typical, we’re out here searching for a lost girl who killed her best friend... How delightfully nice...” Dave glanced at her from the shadows of his hood and perked an eyebrow “What do you mean?” Evarea turned around “What I mean is... That we’ve done nothing but fail the villagers here, instead of assisting them, we allowed someone from our group to give a girl a freaking dagger and she kills her friend with it, ain’t that just fucking great!?” Dave sighed and glanced around before tapping Evarea on the shoulder “What is it now Dave?” He pointed towards a point in the distance. She peered closer and saw Laurie walking along with something she wasn’t sure what. The thing had black skin and crawled over the floor next to her, leaving behind a trail of black dried up blood. Not only that the thing seemed to be groaning and communicating with Laurie, while it’s skin was slowly, piece by piece dropping from it’s face. Yet it didn’t seem to bother her the slightest bit. “EVERYONE, ALERT!” Evarean yelled out towards the camp. She quickly grabbed her own shield from her back and took the sword out the hull. She glanced around and saw the guards each grabbing their weapon and forming an armed line between the camp and the aprouching Laurie. Behind that line some of the blades arrived and next to the blades stood a few disciples watching the scene. Evarea and Dave walked to the front and glanced some more towards Laurie. She in turn stopped and peered back at the armed line of men, clearly not sure what to expect.
Laurie and Peter stopped and glanced at the line of guards, some even drawing their guns and pointing it to them. “Peter, what are they doing!?” Peter peered to the guards and then back at Laurie. “They are just jealous of us, that we can just play around and they can’t.” Laurie glanced between them, clearly abit confused. “Are you sure about that Peter, they seem very angry for some reason, should we just ask what’s going on?” Peter smiled widely. “Don’t worry about it... I told you I would watch over you right, silly?” Laurie smiled shyly before giggling softly “Ohh Peter, you know how to cheer me up.” Peter smiled “Alright, turn around and cover your ears and eyes... We’ll play a game, oke?” Laurie smiled “Sure, what kind of game?” Peter slowly turned her around as she sat down, closing her eyes. “You count to a hundered and i’ll make sure the guards leave us to our game, alright?” Laurie smiled and nodded before placing her hands over her ears and starting to count out loud “One, two...”
The group of guards peered at the two “Should we fire already?” One of the guards asked but Evarea shook her head. “What are they doing?” They saw how Laurie placed her hands against her ears and saw how the being slowly started to stand up straight. As it took a deep breath the line of gun man started to get nervous. People started to whisper nervously “Oi, what is it doing?” and things like “Can we please shoot already?” Evarea still didn’t give the sign to shoot. The being now standing out straight, was about three meters in length, about 3 times the size as the girl sitting next to it. The being then glanced at them before letting out a shriek. Even at this distance the sound was overwhelming, terrifying and loud. In shock the people already started to fire their rifles towards it, and one after another they triggered themselves till everyone started firing. The bullets shooting right trough the decayed flesh of the being and some of them only missing Laurie by a hair, some even scraping her as she continued counting. Evarea pointed towards the village where tens maybe hundereds of the beings started to crawl over the buildings.
“WE’RE UNDER ATTACK!” she yelled and the line glanced backwards to see what horrors awaited them. And as the group watched how hundereds off beings started to enter the homes or crawl towards them from the side where Laurie and ‘Peter’ stood came another group of the things. “What are those things!?” one of the guards yelled as he saw one of the beings drag a woman out of her home. “Save the city!” Evarea yelled as the dashed forward, unkown to the fact they were surrounded. The guards started to charge the things in the city, whacking away at the decayed beings who slowly overpowered them. Guards who got seperated from the main group quickly got surounded and the beings pulled them down before ripping them apart, piece by piece. First the armor got thorn off by the thirsting hands before they started digging trough their flesh while they screamed in agony and pain. And the screaming was horrible, everywhere you could hear how grown man and women got their limbs thorn away from them. And everywhere you watched the sight was more horrible then anything could have prepared them for this night. People trying to fight off the things, desprately losing their wills. Here and there the men of the blades started to go down. Even the light bearing disciples got overmastered. “EVERYONE CIRCLE FORMATION!” Evarea yelled out as loud as she could, while desprately whacking her sword around to keep the things of her. Five of the remaining guards formed a circle along with Evarea and three of the remaining disciples. The beings slowly crawled to them, but the circle remained strong. The only thing the circle formation was weak against was if one man fell and the circle laid open. But for now, it was their small group against hundereds off the beings who mercilessly kept attacking them. Evarea glanced to the top of the building where she spotted a man, dressed in black clothes along with a black scarf covering his face. A large black hood attached to his cape hung over his eyes. She again had to focus on the relentless beings who kept charging her. She had no time to lose. She could spot blasts of light energy next to her from one of the disciples. But every blast just seemed to attract more of the beings to them. And while whacking away the endless stream of death that approuched them they slowly grew tired, untill their circle formation broke...
“Laurie... Laurie?” Laurie glanced up and saw the smiling face of Peter. “It’s done, those annoying people won’t bother our playing anymore.” Laurie smiled and glanced around. She glanced over the field of death guards, disciples, blades and vilagers. She walked a little past the corpses and smiled widely “As expected from you Peter, you know just what to do right?” Peter smiled shyly at her. Peter pulled out a shredded corpse, thorn to pieces, it was just a bloody mess. On closer inspection if you looked past the ripped away skin and missing body parts you could see Evarien. Peter rumbled trough her pockets and took out a small knife, the knife she had taken from Laurie. “Here Laurie, this is yours.” He tossed it infront of Laurie as she smiled “Thank you, Peter, let’s go play somewhere!”
