Tales of the Stormwind Regiment
Back at the Command center Marijn slammed his fist in fury upon the wooden table, nearly knocking off multiple things. He glanced at the worgen who was sitting at the other side of the table, her fingers in bandages. “Talk to us for fellsake, what the fell happend!?” Marijn nearly screamed at the woman. She in turn shrinked in a little on her chair, still saying nothing. Marijn sighed loudly, for everyone to hear. He peered at the woman and perked his eyebrow. “What’s wrong with you, why aren’t you talking!?” He glanced over his shoulder at the group of privates who had joined him earlier that evening. “Have no one of you idiots seen what happend!?” An awkward silence apeared from the group of privates, clearly non of them wanted to go against an enraged officer. Marijn mumbled something underneath his breath and glanced at the worgen again. “Privates, leave us...” A few releived sighs were sounded behind him as the group started to move away, in normal situations Marijn would have slapped some sense into the person that sighed but for now he needed to get the worgen to talk. Seeing she blindly refused, they might have to take out drastic measures. Marijn sat down next to Allesia on the table. He shoved the helmet of his head and frowned “Why do you refuse to talk?” Allesia glanced upwards at the guard, her face revealed a certain kind of sadness. She opened her mouth and pointed at it. Marijn frowned “What is it, you hungry?” She shook her head slightly before sighing slightly. Marijn stood up with a frown before leaning over the bannister, peering downwards. “Is Samantha down there?” One of the privates, known as Kia Linaris glanced upwards to Marijn. “She is here, sir... Want me to send her upstairs?” Marijn slowly nodded “Please do so, private!”
Samantha walked up the stairway before peering at Marijn. “Was something wrong, sir?” Marijn glanced over his shoulder at Samantha and beckoned her over. “There is actually... Could you do a physical check-up on her? Her hands ain’t that great...” Marijn gestured to Allesia as he spoke. Samantha glanced at the woman and nodded slightly. “Come back in twenty minutes...” she said. Marijn nodded slightly and marched down the stairs. He glanced around and sniffed slightly. Something smelled odd around there. It was a faint smell however. There were only a few privates around, the most of them had went on a patrol together. There was just the girl, Kia Linaris. Irene Silversong, who was bussy with some paper work and a new recruit, who wasn’t really sure what to do, while Ilyanain was screaming command at him. He sniffed around again. It was comming from the direction Kia was standing, the odd yet strangely familiar smell.
He walked closer to her, she glanced up at him before slowly looking back infront of her, trying to avoid eye contact. As Marijn got closer the smell got worse, and more familiar. He walked even closer the the girl, she glanced at the man before looking back infront of her, trying to seem normal. Marijn got so close to her it was a strange scene to behold. “S-sir... A little privacy... Please?” He sniffed her neck slightly before staring her right in the face. “What is this smell private?” She attempted to avoid eye contact but futile as Marijns face was right infront of hers. She opened her mouth to awnser but closed it again before speaking the slightest word. Marijn perked an eyebrow. “I know this smell... What the fell do you think you’re doing private?” She tried to strible backwards but ended up with her back against the stairway she had been leaning on. “I... I don’t know what you are talking about, sir!” Marijn frowned deeply. “Now, even lying to you’re superiors..?” She shook her head wildly as Marijn grabbed her tabard.
He spoke, his voice seeming more angry then most times. “I will see it trough the fingers this one time since i’m bussy... Let it happen again, and you’ll regret the day you ever started smoking that crap...” He pushed her against the wall and she slowly nodded in shame as the rest glanced their way. Marijn backed off the woman with a soft groan and glanced around the room, Irene quickly continued with her paperwork. He focused on her again “Take you’re leave right now, and don’t come back till next week. You’re suspended” Kia glanced at the man and slowly nodded before walking away, up the stairs. She was going to drop of her equipements before taking off... She wondered how the man had smelled it... In her honoust opinion she didn’t smell like anything. And what did he mean with ‘You’ll regret the day you first started smoking that crap?’ She sighed as she passed Samantha. With a quick glance she watched as the medic carefully removed the bandaged around the worgens fingers. She lost herself in thaughts again as she walked up to the dressing room. What was the man going to do to her if she did it again... Or were it just empty threats? She shook her head slightly as she started taking of her clothes. He wasn’t the kind of man that would only give empty threats... she had heard story’s that the man along had nearly killed multiple privates during a training of his... Let alone a punishment of that man... It would be gruesome... She sighed sadly and glanced at the pile of clothes that made her a official guard. She grabbed a small sack with clothes from one of the lockers and glanced at the tag that was engraved into the thick material of the sack. The tag said Kia Linaris. The opened it up and took out her usual clothes. Not much but rags now she looked at it before starting to put them on. She had been sparing to get new clothes but that would have to wait another week. Becouse the corporal had sent her on a week long suspension.
Without any income she would have to save up her money for bread and water. It was the most she could possibly get with the scrap payment of being a guard. She had already spend most of her salaray on food and the rent of the room she lived in. She knew houses in westfall that were less expensive then her one room... But that’s the city for you... She had also spend a big deal of money on some new fellweed. An highly addictive drugs. She had taken some this morning becouse a whole day of problems at work awaited her. It was also a good remedy to forget about what happend to her some time ago... A chill went down her spine as she remembered the two worgens. She quickly pulled on her bra and shirt as a woman walked in, Kia quickly trew a glance towards the door and sighed shortly to see it was Irene. She had thaught for a second it was the corporal again. “Kia?” Irene started. “Why don’t you sit down for a second?” Irene gestured at one of the chairs that was standing around. Kia slowly nodded and sat down. “Uhmm... I should hurry... Sir Silverstorm doesn’t want me around here any longer... He suspended me...” She glanced at the floor for a second before looking back up at the rough face of Irene. She got closer to the woman and smiled faintly. “Can you tell me what happend?” Kia nodded slightly and started to tell Irene the whole story.
Irene slowly nodded after hearing the story. “I figured you were using something, but fellweed?” Kia glanced to her feet but felt a warm and polite hand on her shoulder. “I can imagine the pain you felt over the last few days... Infact, I had the same... But using fellweed will only increase the pain you’ll suffer...” Kia glanced up at Irene. “How can it increase the pain I suffer... Instead of feeling miserable all day long, I take it and feel great...” Irene sighed “It may seem like that, but you’ll lose yourself to that stuff... And once you’re truely addicted to it... Every day will be more miserable then the last one. Untill you take it, however it can never be enough... In the end you’ll be taking an overdose of this stuff and die...” Kia glanced at Irene, clearly this wasn’t all about her anymore. “Anyway, i’m trying to say this... Get some help, or you’ll truely regret it...” Irene turned around and walked off, leaving the slightly confused Kia behind.
The same evening Kia went on suspension and left the command center. Two bells were heard in the distance. Meaning the it was already two am. Marijn rubbed the sleep out his eyes as he heard Samantha call him over. He marched up the stairs and stared at the woman. “Any succes?” Marijn tried. Samantha nodded slightly. “While I was patching up her fingers I noticed the woman woudn’t even tell me what was hurting her. So instead I did a little research on her and discovered that something, somehow is blocking her voice. She’s willing to speak, yet... Unable to.” Marijn nodded slightly “Think you can remove it so we can find out what happend?” Samantha shrugged slightly. “I don’t have a single clue what it is that would be blocking her voice. I can’t detect and shadow or fell magic. So to be honoust, I doubt i’ll be of use here.” Marijn nodded once again “Alright, thank you Samantha... You can go home now... You’re duty ended about an hour ago I beleive.” Samantha smiled sweetly at the tired corporal “It’s always nice to help.” After her sentence Marijn smiled faintly to himself as Samantha located herself to the dressing rooms.
Marijn glanced at the worgen with a frown. Thus far it was only her who could tell what happend, but unable to speak or talk. It was hard... For now they woudn’t be getting any further in this case untill the women regained the ability to communicate with them. Marijn escorted the woman downstairs, and chained her to the wall. He made sure the woman didn’t smuggle anything inside and checked her clothes and body. She resisted at first, but she was tired aswell. Marijn marched back up the stairs from the cells and saw just how Samantha had left the Command Center. It woudn’t be taking to long till the night shifts started. Marijn smiled faintly to himself, thinking about his bed at home and marched up another stairway towards the dressing room. He entered the door with a sigh and closed it behind him. He spotted a woman undressing herself out her guard gear. She glanced over her shoulder and gave Marijn a greeting. “You headed home aswell Silversong?” She girl nodded quickly and continued to undress. Marijn walked up to his locker, taking out a sack with clothes before placing it on the chair. He pulled his gloves off and started to release the straps from his armor. Slowly removing piece by piece. Irene who was now naked and searching out her clothes looked at Marijn and smiled.
“I talked to private Linaris earlier.” Marijn perked an eyebrow as he continue’d removing straps of his armor. “I talked to her about why you suspended her... I told her to find some help, and hopefully she takes my advice... But it seems like she’ll just continue...” Marijn stared at Irene for a moment with a frown on his face, she in the mean time continued dressing. “Well, if she doesn’t listen to us I might have something up my sleeve...” Marijn said as he removed the lasts bits of armor and started to take his clothes out of the sack. “And what might that be?” Irene asked. Marijn shined his passive smile towards Irene. “Well, so far i’ve only used it a few times, and it can be quite dangerous... But I’ll give it a shot.” Irene sighed and gave up on asking. She knew he wasn’t going to tell her untill he actually managed to pull it off. However she wondered what the corporal had in store for the poor girl. She sat down and pulled on her shoes, tapping them twice to see if they were on tight enough and stood up. “Well, sir... I will see you tomorrow.” She said as she walked towards the door, Marijn nodded slightly and glanced over his shoulder with a smile on his face “Good evening Silversong.”
Marijn left the command center with a naked feeling, he really wasn’t used to being without armor. Every second he expected a criminal to show up behind a corner to grab him in his moment of exposure. It could just be becouse he hadn’t lept in two days, almost three infact. He walked up to the stables and took the leash of one of the gryphons. He petted it on the head for a moment and took out a bit of food for the gryphon. He climed on the gryphons back and steered it towards the exit of the stable. He leaned forward on the soft feathers from the gryphon and for a moment he coudn’t move. Realisting how stupid it looked he shook the tiredness away another time. “Let’s go Becky.” Marijn spoke softly to the gryphon as he whipped the leashes against the beasts it’s back. The gryphon started to run before flapping it’s wings and it got of the ground and into the air. Luckily for Marijn the gryphon knew the way back to his home in Westfall. Becouse he coudn’t concentrate the slightest bit.
A little later the gryphon landed outside a small but comfortable looking home. Outside a small apple farm. It had already started to get a little lighter, the morning was already coming up. Marijn jumped of his gryphon and tied him to it’s place next to the house. A few pets on the head and Marijn walked to the door. He reached trough his pockets and fished out a small key, he inserted it into the door and opened it. He glanced inside the small building and felt more at ease. He closed the door behind him and locked it. He walked trough the small wooden home, and finally stopped infront of a room. He opened the door and peered inside the room. His litle boy Simon was happily snoozing in his bed. Marijn smiled faintly and turned around. He walked over to the next room and opened the door. As he started to undress he glanced at the bed where Kainna his wife was sleeping. During the day she might be as fierce as a lion, but asleep like this, she truely was like an angel. He shoved inside the bed next to Kainna and wrapped and arm around her. The same second he closed his eyes his mind send him to the land of dreams.
Slowly he could feel the real life pulling him back from across the realm of dreams, slowly but certain. Marijn opened his eyes slighty, he attempted to grasp Kainna to him, but as he moved his arms he noticed that she was already gone. He sat up and glanced around the room. He sighed sadly and rolled himself out of the warm and comfortable bed. It was already quite bright outside. Most likely around mid-day. Marijn slowly walked towards the door and opened it, glancing trough the house to see if anyone was home. Marijn yawned and scratched his side as he walked around the house in his underwear. His body, covered in multiple scars. He grabbed some dry bread from breakfest and opened the door to the outside. Slowly devouring the bread he walked abit outside, it was a nice weather out here. He smelled the salty sea air and smiled faintly. He walked up the the farm and plucked of an apple. If the lady who watches over the farm here found out, Marijn would have gotten an loud yelling for taking an apple, but aslong as she wasn’t here, it didn’t really matter. He took a bite along with a piece of bread and happily chewed away. He walked back into the small wooden home and stretched widely. “Right, time to get back to Stormwind...” he softly said to himself.
Back in Stormwind Marijn soon discovered the manutory chaos and disaster of the city. Especially at the command center. Choas deemed to be everywhere. At the entrance to the building stood multiple guards, their hands on their hilts incase anything went out of control. Infront of the guards stood a group of combined races. Dwarfs, gnomes, humans and elves. All shouting trough each other, making it unhearable. Marijn slided trough the group of people, standing on a few toes. As he finally managed to step out the group of rioting people he walked up the steps while glancing backwards untill he felt a fist bashing into his side. Marijn let out a loud cough and glanced where the hit came from. One of the privates stood there “I told you, you will not enter!” Marijn slowly regained from the plated hit to the side and fished out a badge from his bag. He nearly pushed it into the man’s face. “Let me trough you moron...” The private quickly realized what kind of mistake he had made and stepped back, allowing Marijn passage trough. Marijn walked trough, his hand to his side, clearly his day was quite ruined. He glanced around the command center for any of the officers. He spotted Cadaemus leaning against the stairway, glancing to the door.
He peered at Marijn with a smirk. “You oke there?” Marijn mumbled something and placed himself next to Cadaemus. “What the fell is going on there?” Marijn gestured with his arm roughly in the direction of the door. “What do you mean, Silverstorm?” Marijn groaned annoyedly “The whole damn riot, what’s going on?” Cadaemus pulled out a sarcastic tone and laught as he spoke “Oooh that!” Marijn glared at him for a moment as the man continued “Right, it started this morning with the Pig and Whistle, our sergeant Steve was having a drink there...” Cadaemus saw the expression coming up in Marijns face and rapdily continued “What he offcourse shoudn’t be doing in the morning! Anyway, they witnesses claimed that the sergeant was having a great time, he got challenged by some drunk gnome to dance on the table, and as he did witnesses claimed an ice cold chill before the sergeant fell down right on the table. He had multiple cuts all over his body. And a long deep cut in his back.” Marijn frowned deeply. “Everyone in the bar said the same?” Cadaemus nodded slightly. “You think they are lying to us Cadaemus?” The man shrugged “I can’t honoustly tell, however we we had the wound analysed, it apears to be a scythe wound.” Marijn rubbed his chin for a moment and perked an eyebrow before saying “An scythe?” Cadaemus nodded once again. “What a strange weapon... Aren’t you afraid he might come after us mate?” Marijn asked. The man lifted both shoulder. “Untill the research is complete onto what happend, I don’t know what to think...” Marijn shrugged it off him “Where is Steve’s body?” Cadaemus pointed to the left where the building stuck out to the side. Down the small ramp lied the body of Steve together with Samantha, who was already running researches on the body. Marijn sighed shortly and starting walking up the stairs towards the dressing room. Once upstairs he let out a soft groan and glanced at his side. That private sure packed alot of power in that once fist. He walked into the dressing room and towards his locker, he glanced around the room and rubbed the back of his head. Time for another great day of being a guard.
Marijn kneeled down next to Steve. while a fellow officer he never really had gotten along with Steve. He coudn’t really say he felt sorry for him... The man got caught off guard, high up in the clouds of thirst for power. Having the power of being an superior in the guards can blind a man, Marijn coudn’t even remember how many people he had seen, falling down the endless spiral of power. Marijn inspected the wounds, the cuts, familiar from an knife with a hooked point. And the wound on the mans back, did raise some questions. Marijn could hear the crowed getting louder, as the guards still refused them entry. He slowly stood up and marched to the door.
He felt the urge to hit the middle guard, the one that had punched him right in the side, but he only did his job well... He placed a hand on the shoulder of the guard that was standing in the middle of the entry, being the one and only actual blockade. The man was large enough to be considered a door. “What’s you’re name private?” Marijn asked. The man quickly moved out the way for his officer and trew a salute at him. “My name is Sivodar Bull, sir.” Marijn nodded slightly and glanced over the crowed of people. Now they had seen an officer they hoped on an explanation. Marijn cleared his throat to speak but one of the spectaters quickly yelled something “Is it true one of you’re man got brutely murdered a the Pig and Whistle?” Marijn opened his mouth to awnser but another yell stopped him from it. “What do you plan on doing against this, first the rampaging worgens, and now you’re superiors!?” Marijn once again opened his mouth but he coulg hear a yell upcoming. “Shut the fuck up!” Marijn barked at the group of people. An awkward silence followed from the group “Now, let me explain what you came to hear... It is true our sergeant Steve Goldheart has been murdered.” The crowd started talking trough each other again and within a second the talking became yelling again. Marijn put up his hands and moved them downwards, trying to silence the people. And it worked. “As the fact what we are going to do about it? We will investigate who did this and bring him to justice.” Marijn turned around as the crowd starting yelling and screaming again but he payed it no attention. For now he was actually puzzled. Who could have done such a thing?
Tales of the Stormwind Regiment
Back at the Command center Marijn slammed his fist in fury upon the wooden table, nearly knocking off multiple things. He glanced at the worgen who was sitting at the other side of the table, her fingers in bandages. “Talk to us for fellsake, what the fell happend!?” Marijn nearly screamed at the woman.
