Since I can't remember any real events, I decided I will make them on my own, Here is the seventh of the *possible* series. The characters are inspired on you... But well, the events here never happened. Enjoy!
Tales of the Stormwind Regiment
The dusty dawn of friday morning, Marijn sat sleepily against the giant tree outside the command center. It seemed like he had been the first to arrive. He yawned abit and stetched some before closing his eyes for abit. Aslong as the others weren’t here yet, he could sleep a little longer, sleep he would desprately need once they moved out. He grabbed the beltflask wich hung from his belt and turned the top off. He glanced at the inside before taking a sip. The ice cold water clearing the nervous feeling. He shiverd slightly. He would nearly forget from time to time that he had holy water in his flask. The cleanest drink to drink, and a good enemy against undead scavages and death knights. He turned the top back on and hung it back from on belt. Now he had the time he could check his gear more troughoutly. Yesterday night he was so tired he coudn’t pack anymore.
It felt a little strange heading out on such a dangerous mission in only normal clothes. They had decided it would be better to use the official scouting gear instead of plate or clothes. And so, he was now wearing tight leather, and all with all, it felt horrible. He wasn’t used to this tight feeling, yet he could move as free as if he was naked. So he decided to ignore the tight leather and focus on the importent things he usually wears on his belt. From his normal guard outfit he took the silver looking belt flask, his one shot flint lock. While not really convienent on a stealth like mission, it was more something in case things went really wrong. He has also taken his special fitting with the three syringe’s. All three filled with a strong tranqualizer. Most commonly used to force worgens back to their human shapes, but when used on normal humans the result was becoming very relaxed. Eitherway it could be a lifesaver. He had also taken his long sword he used on duty and the normal smaller shield that privates mostly wear. It was fine enough to block an incoming hit, and small enough to not get in the way. He had also decided to take one of the two handcuffs along with him and the expended first aid kit he usually has with him. Besides all that he had made a special fitting onto the belt wich allowed him to put in a notebook. It would come in handy since it would be the only way he could actually talk to the others. He sighed and went over his bag. It was the usual survival kit of the regiment, complete with a small tent and something to lie on. Some food, some water and other handy survival gear, like knifes and ropes. Some extra things were left out simply becouse they would have been to heavy to carry along with all the other things he had packed in there.
Marijn, who had fallen asleep again under the large tree woke up as a small rock hit his head. “Ohh, you’re not dead yet, Silverstorm?” Ilyanain said. Marijn groaned some before looking at the man. His grumpyness dissapeared as he noticed that Ilyanain was wearing the same uncomfortable leather gear. Next to him stood Dorian Dreadwood also in the same leather gear, and packed up as a mule. It was clear that he wasn’t only carrying his only stuff, but also about the half of the man next to him. Marijn smirked slightly at the two and slowly stood up, grabbing all his things together. He noticed a tired looking girl leave the command center, also suited up in the blueish leather. The blond pony tail that was usually hidden now stood quite out, it was Blaire Ivers, and seemingly she wasn’t much of a morning person. She walked over to them and scratched her ass. “Good morning everyone.” Ilyanain laughed slightly about the seemingly not caring girl and greeted her. A little while later Samantha and Irene walked up to them, both covered in the blueish leather. While Irene was used to it, she was probably the only one of the group. Becouse clearly everyone kept adjusting the leather, trying to get it more comfortable. And after a few more minutes of talking to each other and catching up abit even Cadeamus and his private Palmore made their way to them. Both seemingly just as uncomforable with the leather as any other man would.
After about fifteen minutes of talking Ilyanain walked up the small hill with the big tree where Marijn had been sitting. “Right, enough catching up folks. It’s time we focus on some more pressing buisness.” He waited a moment before continueing untill he had the attention on everyone. “As you know, or atleast I hope the ones that picked you up told you, we will be heading out to Redridge Mountains. How long we will be staying there is currently unkown, but if everything goes alright, we’ll be back home in a week.” Palmore rose his hands and with a nod of Ilyanain he stated his question “And what if it doesn’t go alright?” Ilyanain rubbed his chin “Well, if it doesn’t go alright, and how we plan... I’m sure you won’t be worried about the time...” Palmore slowly nodded and Ilyanain continued “Right, we will march their as a group without stopping, so if you need to pee, do it now becouse we won’t wait. And our destination is a little south of Lakeshire, around the three corners and the Lakeridge highway. We’ll set up our camp there and operate from there... Anyone have anything to add?” After a short period of silence Ilyanain nodded “Alright then, let’s move.”
“Ughhaaaaaaa!” Irene glanced over her shoulder at Dorian. “Something wrong?” He in turn looked up from slowly shuffeling his feet over the ground. “I hate walking... Why didn’t we take horses, or griffons... And why do I have to wear this awfull leather? It’s killing my boys down there!” Irene smirked happily “That’s the plan Dreadwood.” He looked up, abit more alarmed then before, like he actually beleived it. “You planned this, and you are along with it aren’t you sir?” Ilyanain groaned some and kept walking. Dorian shrugged and trew his hands up before returning to his tired walk. Just watching him would make you tired. “For fel sake, would you please walk normally!” Cadeamus nearly yelled out. Dorian sighed and straightend up “Happy sir?” Cadeamus smirked “Private, I’m as happy as a kid who dropped his fucking icecream.” For a moment everyone was quiet but then it was Ilyanain who coudn’t supress his laugh anymore. Soonly followed by Marijn’s silent laugh. “Ahh Fletcher, stop being so serieus will you... You’re scaring the privates...” Dorian shrugged slightly and was about to say something he thaught was quite funny but saw a Cadeamus cast a deadly glare over his shoulder. It was nearly asif the man was going to tear him to bits if he said something. Dorian sighed slightly and decided it be best if he just continued walking.
“So, are we there almost?” Blaire said with an annoyed tone grinded trough her voice. Ilyanain grabbed a map from his bag and peered at it. “We should be nearly there, just a little further.” he said while putting the map back in his bag. Palmore and Dorian made some groans. Ilyanain glanced over his shoulder “Really guys, you going to be like that?” After a few groans to soften it up, they stopped. “So, sirs... What is the plan?” Palmore asked. Ilyanain shrugged “Ask Irene, she’s our tactical mastermind for this field trip.” Palmore shrugged “So, ma’am... What is the plan?” He asked, nearly identical to his other sentence. Irene softly snickers at the comment and put up her hand “You’ll have to wait till we set up the camp and we’re sitting by a warm cozy fire tonight.” Palmore trew his hands up in missbeleive but decided to just wait till tonight. This was his first mission on duty, and then moving out with all the officers... He was just so excited. Fighting side by side with them, pherhaps he would even get a promotion when they got back! But he had to wait till then, becouse he had no idea what awaited him out there. He wasn’t incredebly good at combat, so he just hoped it woudn’t be that much of a problem.
The group patiently awaited for Irene to return, she went off like a ghost, scouting the area ahead. Since they now were in Redridge Mountains they decided to not move ahead carelessly, who knows if there were any traps awaiting them. And so the group now stood at the stop, awaiting Irene. “So Silverstorm?” Marijn glanced over his shoulder at Ilyanain “How’s the wife doing?” Marijn shrugged but didn’t bother to respond. He just didn’t feel like writing things down for some annoying small talk. “Right... I guess that means she’s doing fine...” Ilyanain added with a slight sigh. Thus far Marijn hasn’t even bothered to reply on anything they said, he just made some gestures wich he hoped explained him, but infact it really didn’t, not the slightest bit. Now they were in enemy terretory he could feel things were a little tense, especially among the privates. “So Samantha...” He started, Samtha groaned some and turned around, clearly not in the mood for whatever he was going to say, rather then that she just brutely ignored him. Dorian stepped next to the man who did his best and smiled “I’ll talk to you sir.” he said. Ilyanain shrugged and started to talk to him. Not really anything worth mentioning may I add. Just mindless talk to keep the brain from stressing out over being in enemy territory.
Irene silently returned to the group and told them it was clear to progress, and so after a long day of walking the group finally made their way to the destined point where they would put up the camp and get the briefing of what they were going to do. But first they had to set up the camp.
“Oi, Irene!” Irene slowly stood up and stretched her back before glancing at Ilyanain. “Could you give me the hammer?” She peered down at her hand and at the hammer she had been using to slam nails into the ground so her tent woudn’t fly away with a sudden gust or storm. She shrugged slightly and tossed in in his general direction without looking. Ilyanain groaned as he hit the ground after dodging the incoming hammer. Why were they all out for him, he thaught. “Really, you are going to trow hammers at me Irene?” She shrugged slightly “I thaught you would just catch it...” Ilyanain grabbed the hammer from the ground and started to whack away at a few nails. Marijn and Blaire had went out in the mean time to collect some wood for a fire tonight. It was already starting to get dark. Where they were right now was covered with tree’s, even thou a fire would normally be spotted from far away this woudn’t be seeable from a distance. Cadeamus smiled as he finished the circle of rocks for the campfire, it had took quite some time to find rocks large enough but not to large.
Later that evening Marijn and Blaire had returned with a pile of wood for the fire, the tents were set up and stable and their evening stew was getting ready above the fire. The eight members of the regiment sat around the fire, exchanging some small talk conversation as earlier that day during walking, only this time a little more friendly, the fire seemed to bring everyone a little closer to each other. Not only becouse it was cold as fuck out there, but also becouse they were getting more comfortable with each other as a group. “Alright.” Irene spoke. “Shall we discuss the plans?” The group nodded in agreement, they had waited long enough to find out about the plan. All seven of them were interested in what the plan would be. And it was about time to find out.
“Alright, first off all, tonight I will sneak around the area and try to locate them.” Ilyanain interupted her already “You’re not thinking of going alone, right?” Irene shrugged “Unless any of you have any training being a scout and moving silently trough the darkness I would happily bring you along.” Ilyanain glanced at the fire, he knew she was damn right. But still letting her go alone would be quite dangerous. “Right, where was I... Ahh yes, I will scout the area tonight, see if I can find any settlements out there wich stand out... That’s pretty much the plan for tonight.” The group silently stared at her, hoping this would be a joke but she seemed very serieus. “But, we have to wait here the whole evening?” Palmore asked with a annoyed tone. “I’m afraid so, if I find anything we can see what we do tomorrow according to the plans I made... Till then just sit tight around the fire and enjoy you’re field trip out here.” Palmore groaned some and glanced outside the camp towards the darkness. “Right, I guess it can’t be helped then... Just be carefull Irene.” Ilyanain added. She nodded and smiled faintly. “Don’t worry about me, worry about there won’t be anything left for you to do when i’m back.” she snickers softly on her own joke and the rest stared at her, clearly not enjoying the same joke as her. Irene stood up and stretched. “Right, I guess i’ll see you in a bit. And don’t worry, i’ll shoot up a flare in case anything goes wrong.” The group waved after her before staring at each other. “So, what do we do while we wait?”
Irene silently walked past the thick wall of tree’s that covered their small camp. Carefully passing the branches on the floor untill she made it out. She peered around herself, it had becouse dark enough that she coudn’t see a thing. She knew that before her lied the road called the Lakeridge Highway wich led towards southshore and Stonewatch, depending on wich side you went. Thou she coudn’t see any of it, infront of her should also be lake Everstill. Though everyone around the area knew that Stonewatch had been taken over by orcs rumors went around that something had happend there recently. It had been good that when the others were still bussy in the camp she had head over to Southshore to ask some questions. All she had found out that something had happend there, what it was had been unsure. And so Irene decided to check abit around there, thou incredebly dangerous to infiltrate a keep, she needed to know. And so she set out a jog, walking would take to long, right no when the moon was gone behind the clouds would be the perfect time to go.
She placed her back against the outer wall of the Stonewatch walls. She let out a few pants while slowly gaining her breath, she could feel her heart bouncing like crazy. What was she doing, risking her life like this. If she got caught she would surely be dead. She glanced at her arm and moved it about for a moment. Thou she actually needed to rest her arm a little longer this was a situation where in need she would need both arms. She pulled it out the cloth that hung from her neck before moving her arm abit. She glanced at the entrance, normally guarded by orcs she knew, yet now abondoned. She silently faded trough the shadows untill she arrived at the gate, she peered around the corner and into the base. Her eyes widened as all she saw was orc corpses, shredded to bits and decaying. She pulled her head back while her heart started to raise even more. What had happend here? She glanced around the corner once more, this time ignoring the hunderds of corpses and searching for anything alive, yet with no luck. Everything in there seemed as lifeless as each other. She swallowed heavily, nearly everything in her body was telling her to get back up or come back tomorrow, yet she slowly moved trough the shadows and trough the walls. Now she was inside her heart beat raised even faster, the death and decay that was around was horrible to see and smell. She felt more uncomfortable, and for her that was rare. She normally didn’t think much of dead bodies, but something here seemed out of place. She scouted the area for anyone alive but after moving around silently she gave up. There was no one around outside. She glanced at the large keep and gulped.
She stood infront of the keep, she could feel her body shaking, trembeling even. She just stood there, unsure weither to check the keep. She needed to, but every instinct she had was telling her to leave as quickly as possible, yet something inside her conviced her to enter. She glanced at the keep, it was in bad shape. The gate had been closed by a large whole in the middle allowed her passage trough. She stepped trough the gates and into the keep, it smelled awfull and it was pitchblack in there. She reached to her bag and picked out a small box with matches. She groaned silently, it was the only thing she had for light. She light the match and immediatly she was stunned. The wall was covered in blood, she glanced at the floor and noticed the rottings guts and dried of bood. What had happend here. She glanced further down the hall where the way splitt up in two ways, it was like the regular keeps only, some kind of massacre had happend here. As she did a few more steps she could like sideways to the left and noticed something sitting there, she felt the hairs in her neck shoot up. Her heart beat kept pumping at an insane rate. She stared at the thing that sat there. It kind of looked like an orc, maybe it was an survivor of what happend. She was about to aprouch it, but the creature slowly stood up. She felt the fire of the match lick her fingers and in instict she dropped the match before it went off. She quickly grabbed another match and lit it. Her breath stopped as the being stood infront of her, blood smeared over it’s body. The orc itself, thou seemingly standing looked more dead, decayed skin and rotting body parts. She was frozen in fear. The orc just stared back at her with it’s decayed face. She slowly stepped backwards, away from the thing. She could feel a ice cold chill crawl around her spine as the being started to make a dash for her. She quickly started to run back, nearly tumbeling over her own feet. She nearly dived trough the hole in the gates before dropping the match. She saw the orc slowly move towards her, low groans were coming from it. She quickly walked backwards from the gates. She had no idea what she just came across, was it an undead, forsaken? Thou she had never encountered them before, especially not here. She heards some groans behind her and saw all the dead orcs slowly rising to their feet. She coudn’t take it anymore, this was to much! She glanced around and spotted a corpse with blueish leather on. Over the leather pieces of what once was the stormwind tabard. She glanced around as the things slowly got closer, what could she do?
Marijn took another sip from his drink, while normally he woudn’t drink much this was the perfect chance to do so. He lifted the bottle at the others who were sitting around the fire while they did the same. He could hear Dorian laughing about a joke that Ilyanain made. He glanced at Blaire who was sitting next to him. She smiled and took another gulp of her own bottle. “This is what i’m talking about!” Cadeamus said as he slowly stood up. “Save some for Irene eh, she should be back soon.” Marijn glanced at his own bottle and shook it a little. He laughed shortly as he noticed how empty his bottle was. “Save some youreself Cadeamus.” Samantha said, even she was drinking. It was clear most of them were quite drunk except the one who stood guard. Robertio Palmore. He just stood there on his own. Ilyanain laughed shortly “Oke, oke, I know one, So... This orc walks into a bar with a parrot on his shoulder, right... And the bartender says like, heey, where’d you get that? and then the parrot says, Durotar, they got them all over the place!” Marijn coudn’t help but laugh along with the joke together with the rest. “Alright, alright... I know once aswell” Cadeamus said. “Right, uhmm... A guy walked up to me and he’s like, I’m a teepee, I’m a wigwam, I’m a teepee, I’m a wigwam! and I was like, Relax man, you’re two tents, instead of tense!” The group once again shared a laughter together, Marijn never knew they knew such funny jokes. It had been a while since they caught a drink together aswell. Maybe they should do it more ofen. Samantha coudn’t help but finally shed a laugh “Alright, I know once aswell.” she said. “Right, so this go-.” She got interupted by a sudden sound behind them. The peered in it’s direction and after a few seconds they could see a ball of light shoot high above the tree’s. “What’s that?” Palmore asked. Ilyanain rubbed his chin before his eyes widened “That’s Irene’s emergency signal!” Everyone quickly got up and glared at the direction of the flare.
Marijn quickly packed his long sword and places it in the sheeth around his belt, along with the rest of his gear. He felt a little light headed from all the booze. Damn Irene, what the fel did she get herself in to. He checked the last straps of his leather armor, it didn’t feel right going into possible battle with just leather armor. Marijn walked out his tent and saw that the rest had packed their things aswell. Marijn quickly nodded to Ilyanain as they started to run trough the thick wall of tree’s around their camp. The group walked out the the thick layed of tree’s and glanced around to see where the flare was. It was still levitating right above the keep in mid air. The group started to run, silent as the night they were. While they might not noticed, without their place armor the group was infact incredebly quiet on foot.
“It came from here right?” Ilyanain asked in general. Marijn nodded quickly, the flare had faded and was no longer visible. They now stood outside the walls off Stonewatch. They quickly marched towards the entrace, with a quick look inside Cadeamus gestured to group it was clear. They slowly entered trough the gate their weapons ready to strike. As one compact group they moved, quickly scouting the area. Here and there piles of decaying flesh and blood. Nothing else, there wasn’t an single corpse out here. Marijn pointed towards a body lying infront of the keep. The group quickly made their ways over there. “What the fel is that?” Ilyanain asked as they got closer. It was the decayed corpse of an orc, a dagger planted deep inside his skull. “That’s Irene’s dagger...” Samantha said. Marijn walked over to the corpse while the rest continued to check around. He grabbed the small dagger and pulled it out, some remains of the rotting brain on it. Marijn nodded to confirm their suspiscion. It was indeed Irene’s dagger. But where was she? “All clear around here, just bits of rotting flesh here and there, sir.” Palmore said. Marijn glanced at the keep while the rest followed his faze. “Think she’s in there?” Ilyanain asked. Marijn shrugged without replying. He slowly stood up, he felt a chil crawl down his spine, like his mind was telling him she was there but his body brutely refused to go even closer. “Wanna go check Marijn?” He glanced to the side and shook his head. “You don’t want to check?” Marijn stared back at the building, or atlleast how much of the building they could see in the dark. He was terrified, he didn’t know what to expect if they entered the building. A feeling like this, he had never really felt before. Not even the countless of times he faced most certain death over the years, but this was something diffrent. He felt an arm pushing him towards the building. “Let’s go check inside.” Cadeamus said behind him while slowly pushing him to the building.
After pushing his fears aside, he knew he had to enter that awfull place to find Irene... He slowly walked over towards the gate. “How’s the entrance, can you enter?” Ilyanain called from a distance. Marijn groaned silently and gestured them to come over. “There’s a hole in the gates?” Palmore questioned. “You blind boy, there’s a damn hole in the gate.” Cadeamus groaned, clearly he wasn’t enjoying this place either, it seemed neither of all of them were. “Palmore, stay out here and report if something comes.” Cadeamus added. Palmore nodded and peered into the vast darkness with his hand above his eyes as if the bright son was bothering him. The rest slowly crawled trough the whole in the gate. While it was only a few meters inside the building it was already pitchblack in here. Luckily Samantha had carried an lantern along. “Someone has a match for me so I can light the Lantern?” Ilyanain checked trough his pockets and sighed “Nope.” if they weren’t in such a hurry in leaving the camp he might have had some. Next to him sounded another no from Dorian. Cadeamus groaned “Me neither, so we have no matches and we’re going to enter here?” The group was blinded by a sudden bright light. Marijn who coudn’t confirm he had matches lighted one and held it out for Samantha with a nervous smile. She in turn took it and lit the lantern, she turned the gas up abit so they had a little more light. The walls were still covered with a thick layer of dried of blood, here and there lied pieces of rotting flesh. Samantha let out a soft yelp and pointed at a decayed arm. “Now I think about it...’ Samantha started “Wasn’t this keep taken over by orcs, where are they?” Ilyanain shrugged “Don’t know, don’t plan on finding out, let’s just find Irene and see what we’ll do next.”
The group went to the right, becouse it was the regular keep the alliance have on multiple places they knew the place in and out. To the right was another hallway, with five doors. One leading to the baths, one leading to the woman barracks, one to the mans barrack, one to the kitchen and one to the great hall. Surprisingly all the doors were closed. Ilyanain whispered “Shall we check all the doors?” Cadeamus nodded and added with that “Might aswell...” Marijn who was walking infront, his sword in one hand and his shield trapped around the other groaned softly, he wasn’t enjoying himself at all. He grabbed the door knob to the baths and opened it before peering inside. He felt how his heart started to beat faster and faster the wider he pulled the door open. The light from Samantha’s lantern showing a feint part of the room. Inside the room layed something, wich is what wasn’t quite sure but they knew it was alive. Groaning and bleeding the shape pushed itself up from the floor. The group all staring it with their eyes wide open and stunned in fear. The shape turned around displaying it’s rotten face, his cheek was no where near where it should be. It’s eyes glowing iceblue. While the group was still staring at it the horrible being, the thing charged towards them. In shock and fear Marijn slammed the door close. “THE FUCK IS THAT!?” Dorian screamed out. A hard sound what heard against the door as if that thing collided with the door. Soon followed after was loud scratching, groaning and bonking. Ilyanain leaned next to Marijn against the door. “What do we do!?” he spoke, clearly not sure what that thing was. “L-let’s barricade the door with something!” Cadeamus suggested. Ilyanain pointed at some chairs “Give them here!” Samantha quickly picked up the chair and placed it infront the door before shoving it under the handle of the door. Marijn sighed and wiped his forehead before leaning away from the door. The door rambled but the chair managed to keep it closed. “What do we do now?” Samantha asked.
